I Leased a Luxury Apartment to My Husband’s Lover, and Their Next Meeting There Became Impossible to Forget

Real estate agent Mila had built a comfortable life. Her career was thriving, and she earned enough to enjoy the lifestyle she had always wanted. Yet she could feel her husband pulling away, growing colder and more distant. Everything changed when the woman he was seeing contacted Mila to rent an apartment.

Mila sat at the kitchen table, carefully preparing breakfast for herself and her husband, Richard.

The aroma of fresh coffee filled the warm kitchen, while eggs crackled in the pan and added a sense of comfort to the morning.

She placed the omelet on a plate with toast beside it, hoping their familiar routine might restore some closeness between them.

As she set the meal in front of Richard, she attempted to begin a casual conversation.

“Have you thought about what we could do this weekend? We might visit that new gallery downtown or perhaps see a movie. What do you think?” she asked gently, trying to close the distance that had formed between them.

Richard barely raised his eyes from his phone and answered with an absent grunt.

“We’ll see,” he murmured, continuing to stare at the screen.

Mila felt disappointed but covered it with a patient expression. This had become common lately—she tried to connect while he always seemed mentally somewhere else.

As she poured herself more coffee, Richard’s phone lit up once again. The movement caught Mila’s attention, and she saw the name “Carol” appear on the screen beside a photograph of a woman she had never seen.

Her heart jolted slightly, but she quickly regained control.

“Who is Carol?” she asked casually, although suspicion tightened her stomach.

Richard appeared completely unconcerned. He hardly glanced up before answering.

“She’s a colleague from work. We have a meeting outside town this weekend. I’ll be away until Monday.”

His voice remained distant and ordinary, as though he were discussing nothing more important than the weather.

Mila made herself smile even though pressure filled her chest.

“I understand. Have a safe journey,” she said, lightly kissing his cheek as he picked up his keys and walked toward the door. “I suppose I’ll see you Monday.”

After the door shut, Mila remained alone in the silent kitchen, and the warmth of breakfast seemed to disappear.

She looked through the window and watched Richard’s car leave the driveway. A deep feeling of unease settled in her chest and refused to leave.

Something about this supposed work trip seemed unusual. It felt like far more than another ordinary weekend away.

Trying to push aside her concern, Mila focused on her work schedule. She had an appointment with a prospective customer who wanted to lease an upscale apartment for the weekend.

Mila had always taken her real estate career seriously, and she intended to do the same that day. No matter how heavily suspicion weighed on her, she needed to concentrate.

Still, while getting ready to leave, she could not remove the image of Carol’s name from her mind.

Something was clearly wrong, but for the moment, Mila could only set those thoughts aside and attend her appointment. She had no idea the coming hours would expose more than she could have imagined.

Later that day, Mila entered the apartment while still thinking about everything that had happened that morning. She reminded herself that concentrating on work was the best way to keep her thoughts under control.

A new customer had arranged to inspect a luxury apartment for the weekend, and Mila had prepared everything in advance. But when the woman stepped inside, Mila felt her stomach drop.

It was Carol.

She was the same woman whose picture had appeared on Richard’s phone.

Mila’s heart began pounding, but she forced herself to remain composed and professional. She breathed deeply, hiding the emotional chaos growing inside her.

Carol introduced herself with a cheerful smile, completely unaware of what her presence meant.

Mila offered her hand and returned the greeting firmly, even though it felt as if the floor had shifted beneath her feet.

“It’s nice to meet you, Carol,” Mila said with a calmness she did not feel. “Shall we look around the apartment?”

As she showed Carol through the elegant rooms, Mila struggled to control her reaction. Her thoughts screamed as the truth assembled itself with sickening certainty.

Richard’s so-called business associate intended to spend the weekend in this apartment with him.

Attempting to learn more without exposing herself, Mila asked lightly, “What brings you here? Is there a special reason for the stay?”

Carol smiled widely.

“Yes, actually. I’m spending the weekend with a very important man in my life. We finally have some private time together.”

The statement struck Mila like a physical blow. Every suspicion she had carried was now confirmed.

Richard was not traveling for business. He had arranged a romantic weekend with Carol. Anger rose inside Mila, but she kept her professional mask firmly in place.

“That sounds lovely,” she managed, maintaining a steady tone despite the betrayal and fury surging through her.

She could not allow Carol to realize that anything was unusual.

When the viewing ended, Carol happily signed the rental agreement without hesitation. Mila handed her the keys while keeping her expression controlled, though thoughts of retaliation were already racing through her mind.

After Carol left, Mila placed a spare key into her pocket.

A plan was beginning to form.

She would not overlook this betrayal. Richard and Carol were about to have a weekend neither of them would ever forget.

As Mila drove home, the anger inside her continued to grow, but she understood that she needed to remain controlled. She had to perform her role convincingly, so she called Richard and forced sweetness into her voice despite how sick it made her feel.

“Hi, are you coming home this evening?” she asked, pretending to be the devoted wife.

Her heart hammered while she waited, and every passing second increased her fury.

“No,” Richard answered coldly. “I’m already leaving town. I’ll return Monday.”

Mila tightened her hands around the steering wheel as she listened to his lie, struggling to contain the rage beneath her calm voice.

He had deceived her without hesitation, and his ease hurt more deeply than she expected. He dismissed her so casually.

But now Mila knew the truth, and it was time for her to respond.

She would not weep or plead for an explanation.

She had planned something much more satisfying.

“All right. Travel safely,” she said warmly before ending the call.

Once it was over, her hands began trembling—not from sadness, but from the anger moving through her body.

The betrayal was undeniable, and Mila had finished pretending to be the trusting, unsuspecting wife.

That evening, she sat in the living room and dialed a different number.

This time, her voice was controlled and carried a new certainty. She was no longer pretending. Her plan had officially begun.

“Everything is prepared,” Mila said evenly. “We’ll meet there at eight tonight.”

The man on the other end agreed immediately, and Mila smiled for the first time since breakfast.

A powerful sense of control swept over her. She was not simply planning to catch Richard—she wanted him to face the consequences of what he had done.

She ended the call and rose from the couch with a clear and focused mind.

That evening, she would confront both Richard and Carol, but not in the manner either of them expected.

The time had come for them to experience the result of their betrayal, and Mila intended to make the encounter unforgettable.

Mila reached the apartment at exactly eight o’clock, her heart racing beneath a composed expression.

Carol’s boyfriend stood beside her, a tall man whose face was twisted with anger.

His hands were clenched as they silently entered the apartment using the spare key Mila had kept.

The plan was underway, and Mila had no intention of turning back.

Together, they moved quietly through the hallway. The low lighting made the situation feel unreal.

As they approached the bedroom, they heard muffled conversation and laughter.

Mila’s stomach tightened, but she continued forward and led the man through the doorway.

The scene before her caused her blood to burn.

Richard and Carol were lying together in bed, entirely unaware of what waited just outside the room.

Then a furious voice shattered the silence.

“What the hell is happening here?” Carol’s boyfriend shouted, his voice echoing throughout the apartment.

His anger filled the room, and Carol immediately sat upright in terror. She struggled to cover herself, all color leaving her face as she understood what was happening.

Richard looked equally pale and shaken.

His body trembled as he climbed from the bed and dropped to his knees before Mila.

“I didn’t know!” he stammered weakly. “I never meant for this to happen. I swear!”

His desperate attempt to gain forgiveness did not affect Mila.

Instead, it strengthened her feeling that justice was finally being delivered.

Carol, who had been relaxed and laughing moments earlier, now looked at Richard with disgust as he begged from the floor.

Her own boyfriend remained silent with his fists tightened, staring at her with anger and disbelief.

Mila stepped forward calmly and fixed her eyes on Richard.

“Oh, Richard,” she began with a mocking smile, “do you remember insisting that we sign a marriage agreement? The one explaining that if either spouse is unfaithful, that person must pay the other a large amount during the divorce?”

Richard’s face became completely white.

He opened his mouth, but no words appeared.

Mila continued in a steady, decisive voice.

“I’ll send your possessions to you together with the divorce documents. Our marriage is finished.”

Without waiting for his answer, Mila turned away.

The sound of her shoes was the only noise left in the suddenly silent room.

Richard fell backward onto the bed, his face filled with shock and regret as the full weight of his behavior reached him.

Carol stood speechless and avoided everyone’s eyes, her previous confidence completely gone.

Mila left the apartment with her head raised, feeling victory grow inside her.

She had not merely uncovered Richard’s affair. She had taken command of the situation and made certain that she would leave stronger while he remained trapped in regret.

Justice, Mila thought, had finally been done.
