While Shooting His New Comedy, Keanu Reeves Opens Up About a Painful On-Set Injury

Keanu Reeves has made a name for himself by conquering one impossible challenge after another, whether evading gunfire in The Matrix or battling through relentless fights in John Wick. But the real injury came during an unassuming off-camera break on the set of the comedy Good Fortune.
Following an icy dip in a cold plunge alongside Aziz Ansari and Seth Rogen, he took a few relaxed steps over the carpet, caught his foot, and felt his knee give way with brutal suddenness.
The fall fractured his kneecap in a completely unexpected mishap, which he later recounted with characteristic wit and modesty during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
In spite of the intense discomfort and an extended period of healing, Reeves made his way back to filming using crutches, unwilling to pause his commitment to the project. Now he seems completely recovered, continuing to work on set and pouring his full dedication into every role.
His experience serves as a powerful illustration that even the toughest people can be sidelined by the tiniest stumble—and that true toughness frequently shows up as calm persistence, unwavering determination, and a steady sense of optimism.
