Emily Ratajkowski has requested that a comedian stop imitating her Instagram photos.

The 33-year-old model and actress, known for her roles in “Gone Girl” and “We Are Your Friends,” as well as her appearance in the “Blurred Lines” music video, has garnered as much attention for her bold Instagram images as for her acting career.

Australian comedian Celeste Barber, famous for parodying celebrity social media posts including those of Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian, and Bella Hadid, has recreated several of Ratajkowski’s bikini pictures, often with humorous captions. However, Ratajkowski does not appreciate the humor directed at her and has reportedly blocked Barber.

Barber mentioned on a radio show that Ratajkowski had blocked her, explaining that while she doesn’t expect everyone to enjoy the parodies, she found the block surprising.

Ratajkowski has spoken openly about how her looks have sometimes hindered her professionally, revealing that producers have deemed her “too pretty” for certain roles, an issue she also explores in her book “My Body.” She has pointed out the problematic dynamic where men, whose desires empower women’s public images, ultimately control the narrative.

Discussing the situation on her podcast, Ratajkowski emphasized that she generally finds Barber funny but asked her to stop mimicking her as it interfered with her work and message, especially at a time when she’s advocating for women’s and young people’s protections in the industry. She views the mockery of female influencers as inherently sexist and disputes the idea that influencers are trivial or embarrassing, highlighting that it’s a legitimate way women succeed financially.

Barber responded in an interview acknowledging her outspoken nature and the challenges of balancing her humor with public reaction, noting the fickle nature of public opinion and how artists are often criticized regardless of their approach.

These exchanges reveal ongoing tensions between celebrity culture, social media parody, and the challenges women face regarding objectification and respect in public and professional spheres .
