DA Fani Willis Hit With $54,000 Fine Over Records Act Violations

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has been ordered to pay more than $54,000 in legal fees after a judge ruled she violated Georgia’s Open Records Act. The order came following a complaint from attorney Ashleigh Merchant, who represents Michael Roman, one of Donald Trump’s co-defendants in the Georgia election case.

The judge sharply criticized Willis’ office, pointing to “open hostility” and a “lack of good faith” in responding to document requests. The ruling adds to the mounting controversy surrounding Willis, who was recently removed from the Trump case due to her past relationship with a special prosecutor. She is now challenging that disqualification before the Georgia Supreme Court.
