An Abandoned Pomeranian Finds a New Home After Being Rescued From a Rural Highway

While driving a marked van for his part-time job as a truancy officer, a retired man spotted a small Pomeranian running along the shoulder of a remote, rural highway. After driving nearly a mile and realizing there were no homes in the area, his instincts from his previous career in law enforcement compelled him to turn around and investigate.
Upon returning, he saw a log truck stopped in the road, its driver having strategically positioned his vehicle to block traffic and protect the exhausted dog, which was now lying on the center line. The man, dressed in a vest with an official patch, pulled over. He called out to the dog, which immediately ran into his arms. He placed the happy but neglected and matted Pomeranian in his passenger seat, where it spent the rest of the day with him, even sharing his lunch and water.
Later, he took the dog to the local animal control office, where they confirmed she had no microchip or collar and had likely been cruelly abandoned on the highway. An officer then asked if he would be willing to officially adopt her after a 30-day hold, offering a rabies voucher and the paperwork to take her home immediately. He agreed without hesitation.
His only remaining task was to explain the situation to his wife, but no explanation was necessary. The moment the Pomeranian, now named Baby, entered their home, she completely won over his wife’s heart. Baby went on to become a beloved and joyful member of their family for many years to come.
