CBS revealed on Thursday that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will conclude in 2026. “THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT will wrap up its remarkable run in May 2026 at the close of the broadcast season,” the network stated in an official release. “We regard Stephen Colbert as utterly irreplaceable and will retire the ‘THE LATE SHOW’ brand alongside his departure.

He and the program will forever stand among the legendary figures who defined late-night television.”“I only learned last night that next year will mark our final season,” Stephen Colbert informed his live audience in an Instagram video. “The network has decided to end ‘The Late Show’ in May.”

I’m not being succeeded by anyone else. The entire franchise is simply coming to a close.”
