Globally Renowned Canine Joins Monks on Peace Trek Across the United States, Rising from Stray Roots in India

A canine named Aloka has achieved widespread fame as he accompanies a group of 24 Buddhist monks on their 2,300-mile Peace Walk throughout the United States.
On October 26, 2025, the monks commenced their route spanning 10 states, starting from Fort Worth, Texas, heading to Washington, D.C. The initiative is coordinated by practitioners from the Huong Dao Vipassana Bhavana Center in Fort Worth, per the organization.
That same day, a Facebook profile was launched for the trek. In short months, it garnered over 720,000 supporters.
Numerous followers sought specific updates on Aloka, prompting a dedicated page creation on December 9, 2025, titled Aloka the Peace Dog. Featuring visuals and clips of Aloka, it has already attracted more than 340,000 adherents, poised to exceed the primary account.
Aloka’s path originated 8,400 miles distant in India, as a roaming stray who began trailing monks during a peace march.
Throughout their 100-day Indian voyage, Aloka remained loyal, serving as a serene inspiration. Currently, he perpetuates the mission, illuminating smiles among youngsters and households nationwide.
Per the monks, Aloka is approximately 4 years old, likely an Indian Pariah breed. Mornings reveal him strolling composedly alongside. Occasionally adorned with scarf inscribed “Aloka,” alternately “Walk for Peace.”
Aloka receives routine medical evaluations en route for wellness. Support vehicle trails, offering rest as required.
