New Polls Show Deepening Disapproval and Economic Anxiety as Trump’s Second Term Progresses

As President Donald Trump approaches the ten-month mark of his second term, new national polling data reveals a significant disconnect between his optimistic portrayal of the nation’s state and the growing discontent among the American public. A recent CNN/SSRS survey indicates that Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 37%, a sharp decline from the 47% recorded shortly after his re-election and near the historic lows seen after the January 6th Capitol riot.

The primary driver of public dissatisfaction is economic anxiety, with 47% of respondents citing the economy and cost of living as their top concern. A majority, 61%, believe Trump’s policies have worsened economic conditions. Following the economy, worries about the state of U.S. democracy rank as the second most pressing issue. Furthermore, 61% of Americans feel the president has gone too far in exercising his executive powers.

Looking toward the midterm elections, the poll suggests Trump remains a polarizing force: 41% of voters intend to cast their ballot to oppose his agenda, compared to 21% who plan to vote in support of it. Despite dismissing these findings as “fake polls,” the data underscores a widening gap between the administration’s narrative and the daily realities of many Americans, highlighting a nation deeply divided and concerned about its direction.
