I Caused My Boss to Regret Shaming My Wife’s Looks in Front of the Entire Office

When Colin and his spouse, Alice, find themselves employed at the same firm under the domineering Mr. Taylor, they believe they’ve landed a fantastic opportunity while pursuing their interests. However, after a single blunder at work, Alice is publicly humiliated, prompting Colin to take action. As the couple is terminated from their positions, Colin is left seeking vengeance…
Being a driver for the owner of a mid-sized business was never my aspiration, but it covered the expenses. To be honest, my true dream has always been to run my own construction company, but life has a peculiar way of unfolding.
The upside of being a driver was that I got to visit upscale locations and work alongside my wife, Alice. We had met years ago, long before we both ended up at the same company. When Alice secured her role as Mr. Taylor’s personal assistant, she submitted my resume to him.
“It’s going to be fine, Colin,” she reassured me one evening as we prepared pasta for dinner.
“He needs a personal driver, and you’re capable of that. Neither of us has to remain there forever, but the pay is decent for now. So, until something better comes our way, we’ll manage.”
“I understand,” I replied. “It’s just that this feels so far removed from my dream that I fear I might get stuck in it. But it’s alright; I’ll only get trapped if I settle. And I refuse to do that.”
Our boss, Mr. Taylor, was quite a character. At first glance, he appeared to be the quintessential entrepreneur. You know, the sharp suits, perpetually glued to his phone, and a way of speaking that made you feel like he had insights you lacked.
But the reality was straightforward: Mr. Taylor was a man who thrived on domination, and the tighter his hold on the business and his staff, the worse the situation became for everyone.
Alice had been managing his moods for months. Recently, he had been preparing for a significant business meeting aimed at attracting new investors to the company, intending to elevate his security empire’s profile.
“You seem stressed, Alice,” I remarked when she mentioned the tightness in her shoulders.
“He’s under immense pressure, darling,” she replied. “Which means I’m feeling it too.”
She attempted to brush it off, but I could see its impact on her. Alice was always on edge, meticulously checking everything, terrified of making even the slightest error.
Then, last week occurred.
Over time, Mr. Taylor had grown close to Alice and trusted her completely. Thus, when it was time to negotiate a new contract with several new contractors, he sent Alice in.
“I’ve prepared you well, Alice,” he declared. “It’s straightforward, and all the details are in the presentation and materials we’ve created for them. Just present and see if they have any inquiries. Then give them a smile and get them to sign. Simple.”
Alice lit up. I could tell she appreciated the added responsibility and wanted to demonstrate her value to him. She was weary of being a personal assistant and desired more.
However, when she returned home that night, her complexion was pale.
“The meeting didn’t go well,” she confessed quietly. “They all backed out.”
“What? Why?” I asked, feeling a knot form in my stomach. I anticipated there would be repercussions. Mr. Taylor was sure to express his disappointment in Alice.
Boiling the kettle, I sat Alice down, urging her to share everything.
“He insisted on several unreasonable terms,” she explained. “I tried to tell him they wouldn’t accept it, but he wouldn’t listen. Colin, there were clauses for up to fifteen million dollars. If anyone withdrew, they were liable to pay him that sum, and it would have been enforceable once the contract was signed.”
“And I assume he’s blaming you?”
She nodded sadly.
I took her hand and squeezed it firmly.
“It’s not your fault, my love. Mr. Taylor pretends to be a calculated individual, but he always opts for shortcuts. He should have known better.”
But the following day, as I approached the office to inform Mr. Taylor that I would be taking the car for servicing, things escalated dramatically.
Mr. Taylor summoned a meeting, pulling everyone from their desks into the open office area. I lingered at the back, torn between staying or leaving with the car. But then I spotted my wife, her eyes sunken and her shoulders drooping.
“Everyone!” Mr. Taylor barked. Instantly, the chatter ceased.
“I want you all to look at Alice. Take a good, long look at her.”
Alice shifted awkwardly, her face flushing.
“This is what failure looks like! It’s no wonder our potential partners withdrew. She looks all hunched over and intimidating. Like a scarecrow! Alice is the perfect example of what not to emulate. She epitomizes a hiring mistake!”
A few nervous laughs rippled through the crowd, but most averted their gazes. I could feel the blood boiling beneath my skin. I had never witnessed him stoop this low.
Before I could stop myself, I moved forward, pushing through the crowd.
“Hey, that’s enough!” I shouted.
Mr. Taylor turned, his eyes narrowing.
“Oh, and here comes the knight in shining armor,” he sneered. “Come to rescue your damsel in distress?”
I squared my shoulders, holding his gaze.
“You’re the failure here. You don’t get to speak to Alice like that. It wasn’t her fault the deal collapsed. You were the one who insisted on those terms!”
“Excuse me?” he barked. “Do you think you understand how to run a business better than I do? You’re just a driver.”
“Yes, and you’re merely a bully,” I retorted.
The office fell into a profound silence, everyone’s eyes flicking between us.
“You’re fired!” he spat, his face contorted with rage. “Both of you. Get out!”
Alice gasped softly, but I took her hand.
“Come, let’s go,” I said.
We exited the office, the door slamming shut behind us with a loud thud.
“I’m so sorry,” she murmured. “I really didn’t want you to lose your job.”
“It’s not your fault,” I comforted her. “We’ll figure something out. We always do.”
But as we drove home, the reality of what had transpired began to settle in. And I realized that I couldn’t let this slide. Not this time.
Later that evening, Alice was busy in the kitchen. She was crafting dumplings from scratch, something she only did when she wanted to keep her mind and hands occupied.
“Colin, I tried so hard. And now… Now we’re both unemployed because of me.”
I moved closer, wrapping my arms around her.
“It’s not over yet,” I said. “I know where he’ll be tonight. He has one more meeting with those partners. It was on my schedule this morning.”
“So you’re planning to crash his meeting?” she asked, wiping her eyes.
“Trust me, this will be worthwhile,” I said, grabbing my keys.
I drove to the hotel where Mr. Taylor’s meeting was taking place, and as I parked out front, I noticed his luxury car in the lot. I started to feel overwhelmed and considered turning back, but I couldn’t leave without taking action.
Entering the building, I made my way to the restaurant area where he always held his meetings.
And then I spotted him. Mr. Taylor, seated at a secluded table in the back. But he wasn’t with a business associate. No, he was with a woman.
They were sitting too closely together, his hand resting on her knee, with glasses of wine on the table before them. Before proceeding, I fumbled for my phone, capturing a few quick photos before slipping back out into the lobby.
Then I drove to Mr. Taylor’s residence; Mrs. Taylor needed to see this.
“Colin! How delightful to see you!” she exclaimed when she opened the door.
“Hi, Mrs. Taylor,” I said, striving to keep my voice steady. “I need to show you something.”
Her brow furrowed, but she nodded.
I pulled out my phone and handed it to her.
“Is that… is that my husband?” she asked in disbelief.
“I’m sorry, I thought you should be informed.”
I quickly recounted what had transpired at the office and how Alice and I had lost our jobs.
“Don’t worry. Send these to me. I’ll gather the investors and put an end to this whole affair. I’d like to see what he does without any funding. Besides, this was my father’s company; there’s a clause in my marriage contract stating that if infidelity is proven, the company will solely belong to me.”
I could hardly believe what I was hearing.
“Give me a week, Colin,” she said. “You and Alice will be reinstated in your positions. You will both work for me. Enjoy the week off, and I’ll see you on the other side. There will be compensation for the distress my husband caused you. And when you return to the company, a raise.”
I went home, buzzing with the news. I couldn’t wait to tell Alice that we were rid of the man who had treated us poorly. And now, a whole new set of opportunities lay ahead.
Who knows, I might even be able to leave my driving job and pursue my passion once again.
What would you have done?

I Accidentally Stained My Boss’s New White Sneakers — Thank God My MIL Knew the Secret to Cleaning White Shoes
When Tilly’s boss, Mr. Cooper, receives a custom-made pair of sneakers, Tilly can’t resist taking a peek. But disaster strikes with spilled coffee, and before she knows it, Tilly has to rush to her MIL for help to save the day.
You know that gut-wrenching feeling when you realize you’ve made a significant mistake? The kind where your heart sinks, and you’re convinced that your life is over?
Yeah, I felt that intensely the other day.
Let me explain. I work as an assistant to Mr. Cooper, the owner of a mid-sized logistics company. However, as an assistant, I don’t just fetch coffee or manage his calendar. My role is somewhat more substantial than that.
“You’re my go-to person, Tilly,” Mr. Cooper often says. “I need you!”
And that’s precisely what I was, his go-to person for anything and everything.
One day, I’m picking up his children from school; the next, I’m out purchasing a new fishing rod because his old one broke during his trip to the lake. I’ve even had to select flowers for his wife.
But this time, I messed up. Big time.
Mr. Cooper’s friend, who I suspect is quite wealthy and has far too much free time, had a pair of custom-made white sneakers delivered. Apparently, they were one of a kind. The sort of thing that affluent, stylish individuals wear once and then display like a trophy.
“They’re supposed to be incredibly comfortable, Tilly,” Mr. Cooper remarked when I handed him his afternoon smoothie.
“More comfortable than the ones you already own?” I teased.
Mr. Cooper chuckled.
“I suppose we’ll have to find out. But Derek said they feel like walking on air. That’s something!”
When the courier arrived, Mr. Cooper asked me to retrieve them for him right away.
“You can just leave them on my desk, Tilly. I’ve seen a photo of them—Derek sent me one prior to packaging. However, I’m heading into a meeting now, and then I have to meet Lenore and the kids for dinner. So I won’t see them until tomorrow.”
I nodded and walked downstairs to the foyer where the courier was waiting with the prized sneakers.
“Thank you,” I said, signing for the package.
