Family Comes Together for Dinner at Grandma’s, Only to Encounter Surprising Inheritance Discoveries đ˝ď¸

Camilla is on her way to her grandmother’s 80th birthday dinner, where family conflicts and hidden truths are about to come to light. As they reunite for the first time in years, past rivalries flare up, concealed secrets emerge, and an unexpected turn of events leaves everyone stunned.
Camilla and her husband, Scott, were en route to a family dinner at her grandmother’s residence. For the first time in years, the whole family was coming together.
They had traveled from various cities to celebrate Grandma Eleanorâs 80th birthday, as she insisted everyone be there. Scott parked the vehicle, and they stepped out into the crisp evening air.
âI still donât understand why weâre here,â Scott grumbled as they walked toward the entrance.
âItâs Grandmaâs birthday,â Camilla replied. âShe wants us all to be together. Sheâs the only kind person in our family. I couldnât say no.â
âI get that, but I could be working right now. You know we need the money more than ever,â Scott complained.
âItâs just one evening.â Camilla patted her stomach, her loose sweater hiding her shape. âDo you think theyâll notice?â
âThey shouldnât. Even I wouldnât if I didnât know,â Scott replied.
âGood. I donât want Mom to find out yet. Maybe Iâll tell Grandma at the end of the night,â Camilla suggested.
âItâs your decision, honey. Iâm here for you,â Scott said, giving her a gentle embrace.
They heard another vehicle arriving. Turning around, they spotted Camillaâs brother, Michael, and his wife, Stacy, getting out of their car.
âHey! Wait for us!â Michael shouted, sprinting over.
âSweetie, I canât run! Iâm wearing heels!â Stacy whined, catching up slowly. Camilla and Scott exchanged glances, rolling their eyes. It was obvious that Stacy was with Michael for his wealth; she had even admitted it once.
âCan we go in now?â Scott asked. They all approached the door, and Camilla rang the bell.
A moment later, the door swung open to reveal a delighted Eleanor. âMy darlings! Iâm so thrilled to see you!â she exclaimed, embracing each of them. They entered the dining room, where a beautifully arranged table awaited, filled with food.
âWhy did you prepare so much? You couldâve waited, and we wouldâve helped,â Camilla commented.
âStop it. I enjoy doing this,â Eleanor replied. They all took their seats at the table.
âMom isnât here yet?â Michael inquired.
âShe mentioned she wasnât sure if she could make it,â Eleanor said, looking sad.
âTypical. She never has time for us,â Camilla remarked.
âStop it. Sheâs our mom,â Michael countered.
âJust because youâre her favorite doesnât mean anything! She hasnât even wished me a happy birthday in years!â Camilla snapped.
âNot everyone can be perfect like you!â Michael shouted back.
âShe always prioritized her acting career over us! She still does! And look whoâs talking about perfection – the owner of several restaurants!â Camilla yelled.
âI worked hard for that!â Michael retorted.
âLetâs take it down a notch,â Scott suggested.
But Camilla didnât hear him. âYou just got lucky Uncle decided to pass the restaurants to you!â she screamed.
âYouâve always been envious of me!â Michael yelled.
âEnvious?! Of what?! That youâre utterly alone, and your wifeâs with you solely for the money?!â Camilla screamed.
âAs if your situation is any better! Your husband canât even secure a decent job! And how long have you been trying for a baby? Five? Ten years?â Michael yelled.
âGo to hell!â Camilla screamed.
âEnough!â Eleanor shouted, rising. âYouâre behaving like children! I brought you here to enjoy a nice dinner on MY birthday. And I was even contemplating what to do with the inheritance.â
âWhat inheritance?!â Michael and Camilla asked simultaneously.
âThe one your grandfather left, and I will leave too. But you can forget about it. You donât appreciate what you have. Iâm not leaving you anything until you learn to value it!â Eleanor declared.
âWait! What do we need to do to get the inheritance?â Michael shouted after her.
âConvince me you deserve it,â Eleanor replied, walking away.
Camilla began feeling unwell and stepped outside, cradling and gently rubbing her stomach. After a few minutes, Michael joined her.
âSo we might get an inheritance,â he said to Camilla.
âWe might have if you hadnât messed everything up as usual,â Camilla replied.
âMe? You started it,â Michael said defensively.
âMichael, I need this inheritance. I really need it,â Camilla insisted.
âI need it too,â Michael shot back.
âYou have restaurants! Leave me something!â Camilla snapped.
âBusiness isnât going well, and Stacy threatens to leave if I donât fix it,â Michael explained.
âThat might be good for you,â Camilla said. âIâm not backing down. Scott and I desperately need the money right now.â
âAnd whatâs your plan?â Michael asked.
âProve I deserve the inheritance,â Camilla said, heading back into the house.
âHey! Thatâs not fair!â Michael shouted, following her.
Camilla found Eleanor in her bedroom. âIâm sorry we ruined your celebration with our arguments,â Camilla said.
âItâs not your fault. Your mother didnât raise you to be friendly,â Eleanor replied.
âDo you need anything? Food? Drink?â Camilla asked.
âIs this how you intend to prove you deserve the inheritance?â
âScott and I genuinely need this money right now,â Camilla said, placing a hand on her stomach. âBecauseââ
Michael burst in, interrupting, âDonât listen to her. Sheâs lying about me.â
âWe werenât talking about you,â Eleanor said. âCamilla, you were saying?â
âNo, nothing significant. Iâll tell you later,â Camilla replied, wishing to keep Michael from hearing.
âDo you need anything, Grandma? Let me assist you with something,â Michael offered.
âIf you think buttering me up will secure you the inheritance, youâre mistaken,â Eleanor said. âLetâs return to the table and continue dinner.â
The three of them went back to the dining room, where Scott and Stacy were still seated, and noticed that Margaret, Camilla and Michaelâs mom, had arrived.
âMy darlings! Iâm so glad to see you!â Margaret said, embracing Michael and then Camilla. âYouâve gained some weight, Camilla,â she commented, prompting Camilla to roll her eyes. They all sat down.
âMichael told me youâre discussing inheritance. Am I included in the list of heirs?â Margaret asked.
âSo thatâs why you showed up. Not surprised my daughter only wants money from me,â Eleanor remarked.
âNot at all. I came for your birthday,â Margaret replied.
âSure, I believe that,â Eleanor responded.
âI think we should talk about the inheritance,â Michael said, holding Stacyâs hand. âWe believe it should go to us.â
âWhy you?â Scott questioned.
âWhen was the last time you visited Grandma?â Camilla asked.
âWe live far away; itâs challenging to get here,â Michael replied.
âWe also live far away but visit at least once a month,â Camilla stated.
âI sent groceries to Grandma!â Michael shouted.
âI helped her around the house!â Camilla shouted back.
âI called her every week!â Michael yelled.
âI called her every day!â Camilla screamed.
âI believe the inheritance should go to me as the oldest,â Margaret declared.
âNo!â Camilla and Michael shouted in unison.
âOh!â Margaret gasped, clutching her chest.
âGrandma, are you alright?â Camilla asked.
âYes, justâŚâ Eleanor didnât finish her thought and fainted. Camilla rushed to her.
âGrandma! Grandma! Call an ambulance!â Camilla shouted, then clutched her stomach and screamed.
âWhatâs wrong?â Scott asked anxiously.
âItâs starting,â Camilla said.
âWhatâs starting? Labor?â Scott asked.
âYes,â Camilla said, screaming once more.
âYouâre pregnant?!â Michael asked, astonished.
âIâm going to be a grandma!â Margaret exclaimed.
Scott called for an ambulance, and they transported Camilla and Eleanor to the hospital. The others gathered to drive to the hospital in Michaelâs vehicle.
âLetâs take my car,â Michael suggested.
âFine,â Scott replied.
âMichael, maybe you shouldnât go. You know I dislike hospitals,â Stacy said.
âWhat? My grandma is unwell, and my sister is in labor,â Michael responded.
âBut I donât want to go,â Stacy insisted.
âThen stay,â Michael said.
Michael, Scott, and Margaret followed the ambulance.
Camilla was in the delivery room, nearly ready to give birth but refusing to until she had news about Eleanor.
âWhatâs happening with Grandma?!â Camilla screamed. âTell me about my Grandma!â
Scott sat beside her, holding her hand. âPlease, calm down. The baby is the priority now.â
âThereâs no time to wait. We need to deliver,â the doctor stated.
âWhatâs happening with my Grandma?!â Camilla screamed.
The doctors managed to soothe her, and she delivered a healthy baby girl. She held the baby when Michael and Margaret entered the room.
âI canât believe Iâm an uncle,â Michael said. âIâm sorry for everything I said at dinner.â
Margaret looked upset. âWhy didnât you tell me you were pregnant?â she asked Camilla.
âI didnât want you to be part of her life and then vanish like you did with me and Michael,â Camilla explained.
âYouâre right. I wasnât a good mom. But perhaps I can be a good grandma,â Margaret said.
âLetâs take it slow,â Camilla replied. âDo you know whatâs happening with Grandma?â
âCamillaâŚâ Margaret hesitated. âYou need to rest and avoid stress.â
âWhat happened to her?â Camilla pressed.
âHer heart stopped,â Michael said. âThe doctor indicated it had been deteriorating for a while. I think thatâs why she wanted us all together.â
Camilla began to cry, and Scott embraced her.
A doctor entered the room. âSorry to interrupt, but we discovered something in Eleanorâs belongings. I think you should take a look at it,â the doctor said, handing Michael a folded note. Michael brought it to Camilla, and they read it together.
I know our family isnât the closest, and I wanted to change that. I hope it can happen with you, but I have more hope for the new generation. Camilla, I know youâre pregnant, even though you tried to conceal it. Iâm so happy for you and Scott. Thatâs why I want my great-grandchild to inherit everything I have. Teach this child to love and protect our family, as itâs the most important thing we have. Michael, itâs time to leave Stacy. Margaret, itâs time to learn to be a mother and a grandmother. I love you all very much and hope you know that. Learn to love each other too.
Michael and Camilla had tears streaming down their cheeks.
âIt seems your little girl is very fortunate,â Michael said. âDo you know what to name her?â
Camilla gazed at the baby, then at Scott. Scott nodded.
âHer name is Eleanor.â
